The beautiful and accurate Brass Weather Station has a
high-quality thermometer with German mechanism that measures temperature
in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. A hygrometer which shows percent of
relative humidity is also on the dial of the brass weather
station.
The brass weather station is complete with a 3.5 inch long
swivel arm and mounting bracket for easy installation. The brass weather station is ideal for placing outside a window—the swivel
arm allows it to peer in.
The brass weather station is crafted of solid brass with a living
finish (over time this product will age gracefully into a nice patina
and eventually, a stunning verdigris.) With a German engineered
mechanism, the brass weather station has quality construction that is
guaranteed for life.
The thermometer in this instrument utilizes a bimetallic coil to sense the atmospheric temperature. As the temperature increases, the coil expands and unwinds turning the shaft upon which the indicator needle is fastened. Since the action depends on the expansion and contraction of metallic components, the response to ambient temperature changes is not immediate. This product does not contain mercury.
The hygrometer in this instrument utilizes a mechanism to sense the relative humidity similar to the bimetallic coil found in dial thermometers. As the moisture (water vapor) in the air increases, the coil expands and unwinds turning the shaft upon which the indicator needle is fastened. Since the action depends on the expansion and contraction of metallic and moisture sensitive components, the response to changes in humidity is not immediate. Many variables affect the accuracy of this instrument and for that reason it should not be used for delicate scientific purposes but rather as an indicator of changes in relative humidity.
